After a few weeks of getting feedback from everyone and developing a bare-bones budget of our operating costs to support the Knies financially so we can sustain ourselves, the preliminary numbers are in.

Monthly giving expectations communicated to date: $2,195
Monthly operating costs: $6,050
Monthly giving received for September: $?

Once we know how much was given over the next few months I’ll continue to update this page.

The Bible describes the church as the Body of Christ. That is an amazing way to say that every one of us has something of value to bring in order to make a fuller expression of church. We desire to be a place that equips and encourages those gifts and dreams to see that expression of church come about.

Rather than creating ministries and programs to plug people into, we desire to equip and empower the gifts and dreams within each of us. Whether it’s a love of the arts, a passion to pour into the city of Milwaukee, helping us meet one another’s needs, making meals, praying and interceding, we’d love for you to bring the best of who you are to enhance our Body.

We believe that all of our questions – questions about God, ourselves, our purpose, our destiny, everything – find their answers in Jesus Christ. We believe that we are all on the same boat – hopeless and dead in our sin – but we have been given life eternal in Jesus Christ. We rely upon the trustworthy testimony of Jesus Christ in the Bible. The details of that belief are best fleshed out in conversation together.

Our Roots


A Relationship


Our pastors, Chris Johnson and Randy Knie met at six years old on big wheels on the northwest side of Milwaukee. Over the past 26 years, their journey of discipleship led them to dreaming together about what church could look like in Milwaukee.


A Dream


In the process of working at a restaurant in downtown Milwaukee, God placed a dream on Randy’s heart. Could there be a church in Milwaukee where even the tired and hungover servers would feel welcomed, just as they were?


The Dream Equipped


Chris and Randy became a part of a church family in Madison, Mad City Church. In that five year period, they were taught, shepherded, and guided by the pastors of Mad City. As that dream for church in Milwaukee grew, they entered into a season of intentional guidance and equipping for church planting.


The Early Days


The beginning of Brew City Church was simply three families – the Knies, the Johnsons and the Oligs – praying, worshiping and sharing life together. From those relationships a larger community emerged to form what Brew City is now – a big family.
